Our old boy Copper 1995-2009

So as most of you know already (and probably sick of hearing about it, sorry) We lost Member of our little Gladden family last week. Copper died on Saturday the 8th. He would have been 14 in October. We got Kloe last fall because I knew that last winter was his last. He was starting to show his age when we got Kloe, and she DID NOT help the aging process, however Copper loved her, and constantly tried to show his affection for her physically! he he. He was a perv! I got Copper for Christmas in 1995 when I was 14. At 14 all I cared about was that I finally had a dog that I had wanted for sooo long. Now a side not for everyone who has a child that wants a dog.....Make sure you help them with doggie training!!! So like you would expect from a 14 yr old, Copper received hardly any training! He quickly learned to sit and shake, which I thought was cool enough and stopped there. So of course anytime he got out of the kennel he acted like a crazy person! I always felt so bad about keeping him kenneled, BUT because of the wonderful training provided, or should I say lack of training provided, he couldn't be out of the kennel with out being on a leash:( When we moved in to our house in 2000 we moved him down and fenced the backyard which gave him a little more room to breath. He still was in the kennel a lot though because, again a lack training made it hard to leave him unattended. He got a little better as he got older. I think he stayed in puppy mode until he was about 10. So we got Kloe to help ease the pain of losing him, and it helped a little, but were still VERY sad!! Over the last year he has had about 5 days here and there when I wondered...is today the day, but then the next day he seems just fine. We had a plan all in place to take care of him with the least anxiety for all involved, especially Copper. He HATED the vet! He never once snapped at anyone, except the vet, so every time he went he had to be muzzled:( It was very sad. Well we didn't have a plan if it happened while we were out of town and Copper had a babysitter! Our very good friend was taking care of him last weekend while we were at the Durfey reunion. I am sooo sad that she had to find him and be the one to call us and give the bad news. She text me, and at first I thought she was kidding because 1st off we are sick sick friends like that! 2nd I had half joked with her before we left that he might die. Which of course I feel terrible about now, but I guess its good that she had some fore warning. Btw a big thanks and a BIG I'm sorry to our friend if your reading this. Anyway it all went down about as well as could be expected. We were able to come home from the reunion long enough to say goodbye and take care of things and cry cry cry cry cry cry and then our neighbor Tracy came over and we cried a lot more. Copper was my first dog, and really the first pet we had that was mine. I had him longer than I've had Kandice, but secretly (don't tell Copper) I love Kandice mucho more!! Thanks to my awesome family for comforting Kandice and I during all this. I'm glad we were there with the entire Gillman clan when we found out. What an amazing group of people! We love all of you lots.
Just some random pics I had

:( Those puppy pics are adorable. It's amazing what dogs do to your heart.
So sorry you lost your dog. That really must have been a hard thing, and how sad that you were not there with him. I'm not much of a dog person, but I did have a dog growing up that I really loved. I haven't been able to love any other dogs the same way I loved Snowball.
Oh I am so sorry about your dog!! I did not know that you had had him so long. Hope you guys are going okay...good luck!
