Phyllis the Fish has Died

Our beloved and buoyant fishy friend has died. Phyllis Vance (Vance Refrigeration) went belly up (cause unknown) on Tuesday August 27, 2008. Phyllis was spawned in uncharted waters, at an undisclosed location, on an unknown date.

Phyllis resided at Pet Smart until relocating to our pond in early Spring 2008. It was here that she strutted her stuff and spawned countless baby fishies with her new found friend and pond mate, Stanley. We are deeply grateful to them for proving us right...that they were indeed, Phyllis and Stanley, as it's difficult to tell the gender of a fish!

Phyllis was a good fish and enjoyed jumping and playing in the great pond scum of life! Her girthy physique has spared her a 'burial at sea'. She was laid to rest with a moment of silence and a hefty bag. We would like to thank the good people at Provo City Garbage Disposal for aiding in the proper burial of Phyllis.

And now, an Ode to Phyllis:

You were a fish who lived in our pond,
we brought you home, but you didn't stay long.
Long enough to mate with Stanley,
and then die and get super smelly.
While you were with us, you made us see,
just how short life can be.
One day you thought you would try living on land,
Good thing we were there to give you a hand!
Who knows what possessed you to jump over the side,
We never knew fishies pondered/attempted suicide!
We kept you from 'buying it' on that day,
but then you went and died anyway!
As for us, we'll forge ahead
and try not to be sad that you are dead.
